What’s On?
** Edison Herbert Quartet **
Born in Leeds, Edison started playing the piano as a young boy encouraged by his parents. While studying classical piano at Yorkshire School of Music he taught himself guitar. This led Edison to being awarded a scholarship to complete his graduate music studies at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Performing with the Guildhall Big Band he worked with Randy Brecker at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and later The Jazz Warriors, Rose Royce and Kim Burrell.
After graduating Edison worked as Musical Arranger for the West End musical “Unforgettable” then Musical Director on the international tour. Edison heads up a trio featuring Neville ‘Level’ Malcom on double bass and drummer Winston Clifford. In 2015 Edison was sponsored by the Arts Council to tour with their first album “My Favourite Tunes”.
In 2016 Edison was selected to compete on the Sky Arts TV Show ‘Guitar Star’. He grabbed the opportunity to perform with the TV shows judges Lianne La Havas and guitar legend George Benson who today, remains as his mentor and friend.
Edison has been hard at work throughout 2020. After much uncertainty and many twists and turns and through Covid lockdowns “Time for Love” was released on August 27th 2021
As lockdown restrictions lifted this year, Edison performed with his Quartet at The Brecon Jazz – London Day and will be performing at The Leyburn Jazz Festival in October, Peggy’s Skylight December, Pizza Express, Soho, London February 2022.
